Python - Data Analysis Essentials

In recent years Python has been the fastest growing programming language. As a universal programming language Python is used in a huge variety of application domains. Particularly, in scientific and numeric computing Python is becoming one of the most utilized languages.

In this course you will learn the essential Python methods for preparing, cleaning, transforming and aggregating of your data for analysis. For this purpose, we will start with a wrap-up of data structures in Python before expanding our skills with the built-in functions for data manipulation and the interaction with files. Finally, we move on to the add-on libraries NumPy and pandas which are designed specifically for data analysis.

Topics include
  • Using Python lists, tuples and dictionaries and sets
  • Working with files
  • Creating NumPy arrays
  • Indexing and slicing in NumPy
  • Downloading and parsing data files into NumPy and Pandas
  • Aggregating data in Pandas

Voraussetzungen

Attendance of the Python introductory course or equivalent expertise.

If you would like to write and run Python in iPython/Anaconda, please, book this course with the instructor Giuseppe Accaputo. In this course we use PyCharm.
