Foundations of Programming with Python

Python is a widely used programming language, which is suited for getting started with programming. This course is designed for persons without programming skills who have always wanted to know how a computer program works. Since programming is mainly "learning by doing", the participants write during the course small programs themselves.

Please note that in this course participants learn the basic principles of programming by using the syntax of Python. If you can handle variables, functions and loops in another progamming language, you might would like to have a glympse into the Python documentation or start with a course at LyndaCampus before visiting one of our advanced courses.

Kursunterlagen

Course materials are provided online on the day of the course. The book "How to Think Like a Computer Scientist" by Jeffrey Elkner, Allen B. Downey, and Chris Meyers (http://www.openbookproject.net/thinkcs/python/english2e/) provides an excellent introduction to programming despite the older version of Python used in it. This introductory course was originally designed on the basis of this book.
